Both the science of Ecology and the Buddhist concept of “Interbeing” recognise that nothing exists in isolation, but only in relation to everything else. Without these connections, a system fails and its parts cease to function. The human pursuit of individual freedom and comfort must therefore be balanced by the nurturing of networks of mutual reliance, that include all of Nature. I am delighted to introduce this year’s Annual Report for PCD with a focus on developing and sustaining networks for sustainable living. These networks contextualise all our work and exist at all levels: linking individuals, communities and nations. Needless to say, our work is only possible through the support of our invaluable partners – in communities and organisations and at local and national government levels – so it is to them that I offer our deep gratitude and enthusiasm for the furtherance of our relationships.
